It’s generally not a lot of fun for anyone to be in a hospital, but it’s especially tough on kids. Though doctors, nurses, family and friends make long stays more bearable, there is still much time where pediatric patients can feel lonely, bored and scared.
During the hospital stays and/or visits, children and their families experience unusual amounts of stress, anxiety and discomfort. Recognising the therapeutic and entertaining nature of the art of storytelling, The Uday Foundation has created and implemented storytelling programs at children wards of the Hospitals using our storytelling volunteers as well as storytelling performances by celebrities, artists, sports persons, teachers, writers, journalists and all the faces which are very popular among children.
Our past storytellers include Ranbir
Kapoor, Rajdeep Sardesai, DCP HGS Dhaliwal, Jaideep Sahni, Sonia Singh of NDTV among others.
To take the same one step ahead, Uday Foundation started a unique program called “Stories on Wheels” where a dedicated storytelling van visits OPDs of various Government Hospitals in Delhi NCR to distribute storybooks, toys and various other gifts to the children attending OPDs.
In addition to this our regular volunteers also visits the hospitals along with Van to conduct storytelling sessions for these kids.
Our Stories on Wheels also visits various Schools and organizations twice a week to collect storybooks, toys and other donation in kind to be distributed to kids in the hospitals.
